Who We Are

Siblings Erica Daniel, Tim Calvert and Bailey Reese started sending care packages to soldiers serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom three years ago.  After hearing about the conditions at Iraqi schools, these students wanted to do more for the children in Iraq.  In November 2003, with the help of Major Keith Peloquin who was serving at Balad Air Base in Iraq, they started the planning phase of a new project.  With the dream of these siblings and a few of their friends who stepped up to help others in a country so far away, support from their local schools and community, and the cooperation and help of some true American Heroes, our US Soldiers, the project dubbed, "Operation Iraqi Friendship," was born.  Our first shipment of supplies began arriving at Balad in January of 2004.  We are proud that our group is run and operated by students aged 8 to 16 who collect and raise the money and supplies we need all on our own.

The students of Operation Iraqi Friendship thank their local community, Niceville, for their outstanding support.  To find out more about Niceville, Florida click here.  The students also thank their school system, Okaloosa County School District, for their continuing help and support.  The support from students and teachers has been amazing and it is no wonder Okaloosa Schools are ranked number one in the state of Florida.  To learn more about Okaloosa School District, click here.  We also would like to thank our US Congressman Jeff Miller for his ongoing support and help with our project.

While Operation Iraqi Friendship has the amazing support of an entire community, Tim leads the project while his little sister Bailey runs the parent program Hero Hugs.  To find out more about these students and some of the other main students helping click here.
